The Need for Organs
An Average of 17 People Die each Day Waiting for a Transplant.
Last year, more than 25,000 lives in the United States were saved through organ transplants. However, more than 96,000 people, including more than 800 Indiana residents, are currently waiting for life-saving organ transplants. Another man, woman, or child is added to the transplant waiting list every 12 minutes. That's less time than it will take you to review the information on this Web site. Sadly, due to the critical shortage of organs, many of these people will not get a second chance at life.

NOTE: UNOS/OPTN policies allow patients to be listed with more than one transplant center (multiple-listing), thus the number of registrations is greater than the actual number of patients.
