James Alan Byers

October 18, 1953 — April 15, 1980

My brother, Alan Byers was 26-years-old when he was involved in a motorcycle accident. He died a week after the accident. In 1980, kidneys were the only organs being recovered. My parents were asked if they wanted to donate his kidneys and they knew that would be something Alan would want.

My family and I are thrilled that two people could continue on with their lives because of his donation.

September 3, 1930 — November 24, 2003

My mother, Gyneth Byers Heldt was heart broken, as any parent would be, when my brother died. But she too, decided to be a donor when her life ended here on earth.

Both are missed by all who knew and loved them.
