Avis Denham

Avis Denham

Our Aunt Avis could not have children, but was blessed with an abundance of nieces, nephews, great, great, great and great, great, great to love. This number is represented inside the heart of the quilt square. After her husband died in 2007 she hosted the gathering of nieces and nephews at her home. The quilt square was handcrafted and sewn by niece, Helen, who out Aunt said was most gifted in sewing crafts.

The design I chose to do incorporates the total number of nieces and nephews that Aunt Avis has. Kay wanted a heart in the center with the total number, with that in mind I decided to use the hearts in each corner with total of nieces and nephews, then great, great, great, and great, great, great nieces and nephews. Upper left heart has the number for nieces and nephews, upper right great, and lower right, great, great, and lower left great, great, great.
