September 29, 1924 — February 10, 2003
Rodney and I met as graduate students at the University of Wisconsin in 1974, he going for a PhD in math, and I for a Master’s in Latin. We both got our degrees.
Rodney changes course and we married on October 15, 1949, went together to Rochester New York. There he studied at Colgate-Rochester Divinity School and now having a little girl and boy, and later another boy, we moved to Chicago so that he could attend the University of Chicago Divinity School. We left there in 1956.
Rodney taught math in Athens, Ohio at Ohio University until summer, 1960. Rodney taught math at Franklin College, Franklin, Indiana until 1992. Then he became ill with dementia and February 10, 2003 of probably Alzheimer’s.
Before he died, he told me he wanted to give his bones, skin, arteries, and if possible, organs to someone else.
Sincerely, Carolyn Hood
