A drivers education awareness program.
A program designed to educate driver's education students about organ, tissue, and eye donation as they prepare to go to the BMV to get their license. The goal of the program is to educate and prepare students to make a designated decision about becoming an organ and tissue donor.
The program includes a professionally developed 18 minute video that educates and informs the student through interviews with transplant surgeons, trauma surgeons, air evacuation flight personnel, and IOPO professionals. In this video, four Indiana high school students are active participants asking the questions that high school students typically have about organ and tissue donation. The video dispels the myths that students may have heard from less informed sources.
Each driver's education program in the state of Indiana should have received a copy of this video in 2008. If you teach driver's education and need a copy and/or would like to have an IOPO volunteer speak to your class, please call 1-888-ASK-IOPO or email info@iopo.org!
IOPO designed this free program to help instructors meet the requirements of legislation requiring the topic of organ donation be taught in Driver's Education classes.
