Communications With Your Donor Family
As a recipient, you may wish to communicate with the family of your donor to express your gratitude for the gift of life. You should know that a donor family's decision whether to accept communications from you or to write to you is a very personal choice. Some donor families choose to be open to these communications, and others do not.
IOPO is bound by medical ethics and privacy regulations, and we honor each donor's and recipient's privacy.
As a recipient, you may inform IOPO that you would be interested in communicating with your donor's family - or you may elect not to do so - it's entirely up to you.
If you so decide, IOPO may be able to help facilitate the communications, but only if both parties are open to it.
If you are interested in writing to your donor family, contact IOPO Family Services at 1-888-ASK-IOPO or email info@iopo.org.
